[D8, MN] The animal shelter (open)

Bea was searching sprawl wreckage for survivors in a location with two family members reported missing. She couldn't find anyone. But no bodies either. She could report that much.
And then she looked at the line of devastation. One block over. On the path of destruction. Wasn't that...
EARS. The Ethiopian Animal Rescue & Sanctuary.
Oh no. Oh no oh no oh no.
She flew there and ... it was just collapsed rubble. Fire. Absolute devastation. She knew they'd had 35 animals, or close to that. Maybe a few had been adopted out that morning? Maybe some had been able to run? But most were caged. Comfortably. Large areas. But confined.
She searched. Bee form. Into every crack. Blood. Bodies. Not a single creature that could be saved.
It ... it had to have been fast. Not much time to be frightened or scream.
She had time now to scream for them.
At least they had died with healing and care at the end of their lives, she tried to tell herself. Would they have been spared feral on the street? Injured as most were when they arrived?
But oh. Had that space monster woman done this just after she tried to touch her mind? Retaliation?
Oh. Oh.
She had to get back to helping people. There were still people (and animals!) who might be possible to save.
But she stood frozen in grief.

"Bea?" Arturo was making his way through the rubble. "Are you okay?"

She turned at the sound. Clearly crying.
"Arturo. It's awful. So much devastation. So much loss. I don't even know how many people. But ... the animals..."
She looked at the wreckage of the shelter.
"At least the adopted ones... Maybe they are okay. I don't even know. Families might abandon new pets in a crisis like this."
"Have you heard what happened? What caused all this?"

He shook his head. "I was with Hahn and her family and everything came down around us. We were fortunate, no one was injured severely."
Arturo himself was scraped up and bruised, but seemed healthy.
"We'll help them Bea. The animals. The people. Whoever we can." He assured her. "And, we'll keep looking."
He let out a long howl, the type that canines usually responded to.

"Hanh's mural..." She looked at the collapsed wall and shook her head. One more loss. "I'm glad she's okay."
She smiled at the howl. Maybe they could reach out. She extended her senses. Looking.
"I think there will need to be a new animal shelter established. There will be animals found during search and rescue. And any we can find."
She paused, looking at him. "I'm not totally sure how your powers work, but is there any chance you can save any of the data in the wreckage of the office? It would have the addresses of all the recent placements. We could check on the families and the pets."
Like she had done for Patches.
"They might need shelter and supplies. Pet-friendly shelter can be hard to find in a crisis. I'm standing here thinking ... when the earth was going to be destroyed in the flood, it was as important to God that the animals be saved as the people. Way more animals than people on that ark."

"I don't think they have power." he shook his head. "I can't connect without an active signal to speak to. It's pretty quiet around here right now. Some cellphone towers are down. WiFI networks are down."

She nodded.
"I can ask around where a temporary shelter could be set up. And space for displaced people who have pets with them. It's important. It will be a comfort to the people to know they have an option."
"Maybe the temple can help! It's important. Joseph Smith said: 'Kindness to animals and to all living things is one good way of expressing true religion.' and David McKay said: 'A true Latter-day Saint is kind to animals, is kind to every created thing, for God has created all."
"And there may be a chance to try to recover the data when the power is returned. However long that takes."

"Most of us were going to move out of the Academy House." he said. "Maybe that could be used."

"Oh! Good idea! Academy House survived. I wonder who is in charge of what happens there. Hmm. I can ask BadWitchPatel maybe."

Many howl back, some familiar even and many more newly displaced.

He smiled. "Many are still out there Bea."
He howled again, calling for a gathering. Then, he screeched in several bird tongues. And, yowled as a cat. The dogs were the best bet. If any could respond, they may ne able to help search.

She could speak to animals too, through her animal empathy.
She began to spread her awareness. Searching. Praying.
