History of Elite Conflicts 101 (Day 1 EA)

This class was focused on the history of small to mid sized high impact conflicts where Elites were deployed against hostile organization, elite or baseline.

TLDR: This class was about fights and super fights

Galatea sat near the back, wearing low cut jeans and a simple black crop top and a few accessories. The style was simple but it worked like hell.

Julia was not exactly the most studious of people, but she did understand the value of persistence. Which she hoped would account for something. Fighting was not exactly her wheelhouse but she figured this is what Elites like Paragon and Lady Tempest do, so she should know it right.

Of course she thought it would be hands-on, not some historical lesson.

Who was Eric Gibson? Maybe this class might shed some light, not that it had before but maybe something historical would fit and she would crack the case. But it was looking like a dud, and Eric would elude her again.

Maybe it was Gibson Eric?

Was she a genius?

Yes.

Galatea observed the people coming in and two of them caught her eyes. the first one seemed to be Julia and the other one was...really looking like Frankie Reynes.

Her attitude was off, however. The twin perhaps?

She waited a bit longer

Iris was late, mainly because in her view gen-ed courses sucked and were lame (except intro to visual design, that one had been kinda cool).

Scanning ahead and seeing she could sneak in before the class started in earnest she entered through one door and found a chair along the side, anything with a view.

Her outfit was casual as usual, although struggling slightly with the warm weather as she shrugged her jacket off.

Arturo was sitting quietly, occasionally flipping through a notebook. His mind wandered, however, and his gaze occasionally drifted towards those around him. He was wearing his hoodie, of course.

Carrying a battered composite notebook with a pen sticking out of the middle, Camilo sauntered into the room at his own pace. Looking around the room, he held up a little shaka Arturo's way in greeting.

Settling into his seat, Camilo opened his book to reveal pages messily crammed with notes and set his handheld on the table ready to translate if needed, earbuds in place so he could listen without disturbing his classmates.

In came another Frankie. Or rather she just appeared at a seat; a few ripples or cracks in the air around her for a moment. So now there were *two* of them. Real Frankie wasn't like, *super* concerned about hacking the Gibson. Or finding him, for that matter. She figured she had time for that, and things usually just happened to her on their own regardless. But she'd take some time to look him up later. Maybe. Maybe he had like a social or something. Probably should've thought of looking that up days ago, but oh well.

Anyway, *history*, yeah? That was a thing. Maybe look at how things had gone over 'ere. What was different. What was the same. See what was what, basically.

Ruby had been following the lesson plan it was good but lacked… something. The diamond woman continued, “So, just want to repeat that there is a long history of these conflicts. One of the earliest was Paragon’s fight with Sheila Marsten aka the Bulk, famed EFL fighter.”

Ruby said, “Sheila had just emerged after a terrifying car crash and was disoriented, when authorities came on the scene she resorted to her MMA training and put dozens of people into the hospital, Paragon was the first Elite on the scene after the police who were already outclassed. Small arms fire did nothing.”

She then played a video on part of the smart board, stitched together from mobile footage. The Bulk throwing vehicles at Paragon, shouting it looked like but the sound was garbled. Paragon did his best to avoid or redirect the vehicles away from people. It is hectic, his energy blasts did slow her down but she seemed very durable.

She put a serious beating on him but he was able to lure her towards a river in a running battle caught on CC footage and use her ability to change her density against her. She almost drowned but he was able to get her sedated.

“It was a dangerous situation, emergences are often benign but not all. The Bulk was regretful of the whole incident and after some rehabilitation and time she is now one of the top fighters in the EFL,” Ruby said.

Iris absentmindedly scribbles some notes down, trying to ignore a ludicrously uncoordinated flash-mob three blocks away. The uncoordinated jerkiness was not helping.

Galatea was writing down notes, made sketches of the streets and even of some of Bulk's fighting moves.

Galatea raised her hand

''Do we know about the local authorities actions before Paragon's arrival?''

“The emergency personnel tried to talk her down but she was in an enraged state and di not respond according to the report. They then used pepper spray and then a stun weapon which only escalated the situation,” Ruby responded.

“I know from experience that talking things through is always a good step, but not always effective.”

Frankie raised up a hand next.

"When did she get eaten by mutant crocodiles? Did that happen? I don't know, I mean I kind of heard about that happening maybe I dunno."

That was one of the highest rated episodes on London TV ever. She coughed awkwardly. "I guess that didn't really happen here, right?"

Frankie jumped in with her two cents, “She’s alive, yeah. You’re thinking of that movie yeah, Crocnado 2: Mutant Boogaloo. I love her sportsbras, good support, yeah.”

“Just sayin’.”

"Did they have time to evacuate the area before she began to rampage?" Arturo asked.

Ruby tapped at her tablet and replied, “Not at first, but as the battle went on they were able to create a safe corridor. Still it was pretty touch and go at times.”

“Elite abilities are always a game changer, they can manipulate the environment, cause untold collateral damage, and any other number of problems.”

"What would an ideal response for such a situation be? A team with diverse abilities?"

“Ideal response,” she tapped her crystalline chin with a slight tinking sound and then said, “First priority de-escalate if possible. If they are already engaged in violence then act as quickly as possible to disable them. From there you escalate all the way up to killing if needed.”

Ruby then said, “Having a team to back you up is always a good choice but not always available.”

"At what point do we escalate to killing? I grew up with many who would resort to this because they enjoy it or because they are too lazy and the killing is easy."

Ruby responded, “It’s a judgment call, if you feel you have no other choice or it’s your life or theirs. I, personally, have never had to resort to such a measure in my experiences but I have been in situations that… well we came close.”
