An early class but one that could save up a lot of problems in the future. Problem being lawsuits, mostly lawsuits.

Wearing a lovely bodycon dress in charcoal hues, Galateasat towards the back of the class to listen to the legal frameworks of Elite actions

Frankie had her coffee, she needed it. Why did the alarm have to be so early. Why was the universe so cruel to her.

Ayana was perky and ready to go, organizing her notes on note cards. Organization was key.

Well, it was a class he would bound to have to take, what with his knowledge of heroics being what he gathered from movies, some comics here and there, and whatever he was able to pick up over the past few months.

T's had to be dotted and I's had to be crossed when being a hero, and no better way to do that than here. He waved at the people he knew and nodded to anyone who looked at his direction, but otherwise he sat in his seat with little other fanfare.

The professor entered, a very sort professor in an old fashioned academic robe over old timey clothing. They look confused and then finally found some chalk, for the blackboard? Was there always a blackboard. Probably.

They begin writing their name at first making that squealing awful sound chalkboards make before they stop writing and look at the chalk. They then write their name in English, “Professor Hugh Mann.”

“Good morning,” they said. “I am Professor Hugh Mann, and I will be teaching this… thing. Can someone tell me where we left off, you there, human-looking person.” They were pointing at the class in general.

The now frequent visitor had made her way to the back of the class and once given permission would stay to watch and listen.

"Uh, sure," Miles said awkwardly, as Professor Mann pointed at him. "Last class I think you were talking about how Elites can preserve the chain of custody for evidence so that it can be legally introduced at trial. Something like that?"

“Yes, of course,” they said. “Exactly, let me check my notes. This is not my normal class, just filling because the previous professor either died or is sick with a very human sickness. Rabies?”

“Yes, Rabies.”

“So chain of custody. I find that chains are pointless, they erode over time,” they said confidently. “Forget everything you think you know about chains and the law.”

Miles' expression conveyed some sort of human emotion - perhaps confusion. "What should we be doing with evidence instead, Professor Mann?"

“What would you like to do with it, sir and/or madam?” the Professor responded.

Who was this clown?

She raised a hand

''Sir...are you playing with us?''

“It was a test, and you have passed, or have you? You see the world is a complicated mess right now, and evidence is important. For things like to stop crimes committed by sentient humans. Now raise your hand if you consider yourself to be a human,” the Professor asked.

Cautiously, Miles raised his hand, curious to see where this was going.

The Professor hopped up and sat on their desk at the front of the class and said, “Give me an example of humans doing human things but via interpretive dance. Everyone pay attention this could be on an final exam, perhaps even the final exam.”

“Then we will get back to the importance of evidence.”

Galatea sighed and was in the process of raising her hand when the absurd demand was made

''How is that relevant professor Hugh Mann...'' she frowned ''Wait is that really your name?''

“Professor Hugh Mann, yes, it is a name that exists,” the Professor said. “Please respect my traditional name it is a traditional name of my people.”

She almost facepalmed

''And who are your people?''

Miles stood up and was about to launch into his interpretive dance, but stopped and listened with interest at Galatea's line of questioning. Professor Mann was definitely one of the weirder professors so far!

“Who are your people, Galatea?” the Professor responded. “Do you even know what or who you are? Evidence would tell you that you are searching for what you are. Perhaps to understand what it means to be free, and yet you seek to tell others what they should be even when they are non-human.”

“EVIDENCE,” the Professor shouted.

“Judge, I rest my case,” they finished.
