Making one of her infrequent visits to the institute again, Shadow had learnt about a special event happening in the training centre. Something worth her seeing it seemed. So she found herself there, to observe and see what it was all about.

She was dressed as she often was, in jeans and a baggy hoodie with the hood pulled up.

Ruby was watching the monitors, alongside another woman.

"I can't wait to see all the different scenarios," BadWitchPatel said.

The girl watched for a little while before she spoke.

"What's the...what is this for?" she decided on the nicer answer as she got closer to those working on monitors.

"These scenarios will test the contestants and their abilities to adapt and overcome," she said.

She looked over to the first one, a snowy place it seemed.

"I see" she replied with a small frown "how realistic are these?"

“Very dangerous and very realistic, though some scenarios are more fanciful than others,” the AI replied appearing as a hologram.

"So brave a storm to save people" she commented "the others are similar situations, facing the elements testing the people so they know how to be big heroes? Are they really dangerous, I imagine any person that goes in is easily saveable if something goes wrong."

ADINA said, "We have medical support personnel on standby."

"So there's no real risk, no actual...." she stopped herself, and frowned.

"Sorry. I get you can't just put people out at risk of death in a place of learning. I just don't get this."

"How much risk would you want to see?" she asked.

There was a thoughtful pause.

"I get this is supposed to be safer training, but...if I wanted to be tested, I would want there to be a real risk to me. You think different when there is something on the line."

She turned her hooded head towards the person that spoke last.

"Do you walk into something like this and feel like someone is actually in danger? You know what I mean?"

"Not exactly but you have to treat it like its real, to get the full experience," she admitted. "And for them it will feel plenty real."

There was a pause at that.

"I don't know if I could do that. Put that it's all simulated out of my mind. Maybe I've just...." another pause and a shake of her head "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to insult all of this. I guess I just look too much from my own um...experiences? Is that it maybe?"

"I get it, but for them right now, this will be plenty real, just watch," she said.

There was a nod.

"Sorry" she said again quietly, turning back to a different monitor. The one with mountains in now and a beach.

"It's fine, I get your reasoning, but I think ADINA has cooked up some really interesting scenarios," she responded.

"I like the volcano one" the girl commented to at least sound like she was being nice "needs more planning to deal with."

"The volcano eruption is a very challenging scenario," ADINA said.

"Are they really hurt?" the influencer said with surprise.
