[Pregame, Monday the 9th, LA] Technical Assistance

He looked both a little lost and a bit distracted. He had done a lot of research during his trip. Of all the places at the institute, this was what he most wanted to see. He wasn't likely to see all of the cool stuff today. But, he had hope.

For now, he wanted to talk to someone about a good night's sleep.

[Dapper Dog]

An image of ADINA appeared as he entered the hall, “Greetings Arturo, welcome to the Dr. Ezra STEM Center, how can I be of assistance?”

[Babble]

"ADINA, hello." He smiled. "I didn't think to ask when I submitted my application. But, I was hoping I might be able to acquire some Faraday shielding for my room. Is there soneone I could talk to about that?"

[Dapper Dog]

"Yes, please go to Lab 216 on the second floor and speak with Dr. Patel," the hologram responded. "Just follow the lit path."

And the path starts lighting up.

[Babble]

"Thank you. I look forward to speaking with you again." He waved and walked off, following the path.

[Dr. Ivashdi Patel]

Hanging from the ceiling in a harness, upside down, was a woman of south-Asian descent. She was wearing goggles and working on a larger than man-size construct that seemed to be a robot or some automaton that was about 3 meters in height.

There was another student there as well, he had his head down doing coding at his desk behind her.

[Babble]

"Hello? ADINA sent me to speak with someone here." He called out. He imagined it was probably the woman he was supposed to see.

[Dr. Ivashdi Patel]

“Oh?” she said, spinning around to look at the student. “Hello, are you in my class? Am I in class? Or are you my food delivery?”

[Babble]

"I'm... new. My name is Arturo Vicente Bulalacao and I am in need of Faraday shielding." He paused, studying her position. "Would you like me to come up there?"

[Dr. Ivashdi Patel]

“Faraday shielding, are you trying to avoid electromagnetic fields? Ooooh…. Okay, how big are we talking? Where? When? How? Well I know how, so we can scratch that. You’re a student? An Elite? You have electromagnetic powers? Generating them? No.”

“You are a receiver, oh that’s easy.”

She unlocked the harness and floated down to the ground and then reoriented herself before touching down. She called over her shoulder, “Markus, run another diagnostic and have ADINA run simulations four through eight.”

She looked at Arturo and said, “Coffee?”

Markus waved without turning and said, “Got it, Dr. Patel.”

[Babble]

"Yes." He nodded. "I receive them. All of them. Constantly. My hood is shielded. But, I'd like to have a shielded room, where I can relax without it."

[Dr. Ivashdi Patel]

“So you need to reinforce a room into a faraday cage, easy. We could have that done no problem,” she responded. “Markus can you take care of that? Just work with ADINA and we can get it done quickly. That will be a wonderful opportunity for you, take Arturo with you,” she said.

“Oh, do you have small hands?” she said looking at his hands.

He showed her his hands. They were long, but thin. "I suppose it depends on what you need."

"Nice thin fingers, not as small as I would like but this is good enough, you ever thought about an internship?" she asked.

[Babble]

"I would love one." he answered immediately. "My abilities are still expanding. I need to learn more about them and how they may be applied."

He looked up at the automaton. "And, you have fascinating toys."

[Dr. Ivashdi Patel]

“Yeah it’s a platform for construction, designed to be controlled remotely by human or synthetic intelligence,” she responded.

“You have a background in STEM?”

[Babble]

"Limited." he admitted. "Just courses at Cebu Tech and personal study. I have been approached by various research firms offering to help me harness my abilities, but I want to do more. I am more than a translator. Language is everywhere."

[Dr. Ivashdi Patel]

"That is fine, hands on will be very helpful, you'll work alongside Markus," she said introducing Markus.

Markus turned and said, "Hey, Arturo. Welcome to the Mad Scientists club."
