[Day 2 - LM] First Interview

[Dapper Dog]

“Well, I could agree, but now you add things like flying or traveling across realities and that has worth too, right? Or do you think powers don’t have some kind of value? Do you think the price is too high?” she asked.

[Frankie Reynes]

"I 'unno yeah? I just figure it gets to a point where it feels more like doing it for the money than because it's the right thing, init? And I mean it's not as if we worked hard to get powers. Doesn't it feel like, wrong, to say someone should make more money just because of their genes or whatever it is they lucked into having?"

She shrugged, "But I guess at least it's doing something important anyhow, instead of like, just being a bloke kicking a ball around and making millions a year doing it when like, miss stevens teaching algebra to little kids has to pay for her own textbooks, yeah?"

[Dapper Dog]

“So, you would turn down the money then?” she asked. “I believe Lisa Singularity has a salary at about twenty million USD yearly, plus sponsorships worldwide. And according to my notes that is around the median for the UNJE teams.”

"You would turn that down, to keep doing the right thing?"

[Frankie Reynes]

"Twenty!" She thought about it for a moment, "I mean... turn it down if it was offered? Honestly, I don't really need much myself, yeah? But that's like, because I don't need to buy stuff, I guess. I don't know... it'd seem silly to turn it down if everyone else was getting paid that... but... maybe there should be some rule like, if we get paid that a certain amount, then like, there can't be more than a certain difference between our salary and that of like... a janitor or something. You know, make it fair and stuff."

Of course, she had no idea how much or how little 20 million even was in this universe's economy, or how much a janitor would make.

[Dapper Dog]

“So what do you feel is fair, when it comes to wages?” she asked.

[Frankie Reynes]

"I dunno, I guess there's smarter people than me to figure that out yeah? Being able to live a decent enough life on it, I guess?"

She cracked open one of the energy drinks she'd raided from the fridge and took a swig.

"But I mean, it just seems weird to me, to think about money so much when I thought this was about superheroes and the like. Is money what the audience wants to know about?"

[Dapper Dog]

“Superheroes? Like in comics? People are here to watch Elites and what their lives are like,” she said with an amused laugh.

“Luxury, action, and drama are some of the things people want to see. Is that how people act back in your home reality?”

[Frankie Reynes]

"Most superheroes aren't like Titanium Man with the big bucks money. Action and drama though, I guess yeah. Lots of explosions. Lots of saving the day. Lots of unavoidable collateral damage. Some avoidable. I mean, aren't elites superheroes? If you've got superpowers and are saving people and what not, doesn't that make you a superhero?"

She seemed a little perplexed by her question.

[Dapper Dog]

“Elites in service to the UNJE are heroes, ad servants of the people. They risk their lives in military actions, or protecting cities, or being first responders. On top of dangerous large-scale projects or working on the lunar surface. The jobs they do are often dangerous or jobs only they can do, thus people want their services and time,” she responded.

“Curious your reality is so different. I find it interesting that people would just do this work virtually for free, seems naïve to me.”

[Frankie Reynes]

She frowned a little at that. "Well, yeah, that's just the way it is, init?"

"How much do you pay EMT's? Do they make the big bucks too?"

[Dapper Dog]

"I think we are off track, let's circle back to something. What are your goals here, you seem a bit confused on things, do you feel adequately prepared to compete here?" she asked.

[Frankie Reynes]

"Bruv, I'm not confused. I'm here to save the world, yeah? But it's top secret stuff, so I can't say more on that. Competing... I guess competing is like my cover, maybe? Don't tell anyone, it's working right now. But yeah bruv, I can definitely compete. I can do all sorts of superpower stuff."

[Dapper Dog]

The producer smiled and said, “Thank you Frankie, I think that’s all we need for today. Please grab any refreshments on the way out.”
