“Hana’s curiosity about everything slowed us down, she seems much more open to experiencing new things than I expected. But it was nothing I could not handle. I spent some time looking into your side quest, between other minor projects,” he responded.

Janus-404 continued working the screens and said over his shoulder, “Before I get to that, we need an understanding. If we are working together, then we need a certain level of trust between us. This was not my initial idea, but HANA trusts you and wants me to do the same.”

''I hold no blind allegiances.'' she began ''I respect the UNJE's stated missions and good works but I am no fool: any organisation of this size have blindspots where corruption, incompetence or ego can insert itself. That said I do not see other alternatives to it for the moment and thus there is no true sides to pick, as I see it.''

Janus-404 listened and then said, “The UNJE is doing exactly what it should be doing, trying to better the human condition through means of government supervision and outreach. I find no fault in that, one could make a case for Elite exploitation, but the compensation packages make that a hard sell to the common baseline human.”

“But it does need money to keep running which means monetary gain is always going to be a priority, it’s not complete corporatization but it could be. Now I’m no adherent to Pantheon philosophy but I find it does give voice to concerns that the definition of humanity is being stretched into strange shapes just to accommodate Elites. But I don’t have the hubris to consider myself a god, I am barely able to get a date. My area of expertise is information and security.”

“So I leverage that. I level the playing field. Which means I have friends across lines you might find unsavory. I don’t try to lay favorites. Based on my own morals, and my financial incentives. Which makes me sound like more of a sellout than I hoped. Peace through disseminated information to stave off mutually assured destruction.”

''Listen, when I met you yesterday I caught you with a very big DCP piece of tech that you were clearly not supposed to have in the very middle of the UNJE Institute. Based on that alone you can make assumptions and then we met again in digital with your avatar being the Two-faced roman god Janus. What you just told me is more the confirmation of strong suspicion than any revelation. Still, I am thankful for your honesty.''

"It's cool, you can chill in this space. I am here most of the time, even when at school, just partition off parts of the mind to run independently," he admitted.

"Hana is adapting well, she has a great deal to process from her outing," he said. "She tends to make sense of that with Adina."

She gives a nod then follows with a question that could bring more then one answer

''How common are cyborgs in Ethiopia? Depending on the answer we could have Hana pass as one.''

“Common enough we could probably pull that off, it’s much more common back in east Asia, but yeah I think that would be a good way to pass off her abilities. Keep people from getting too curious,” he said.

“I still think we should keep her public appearances to a minimum for now, but the data she collects in the public is invaluable to her growth.”
