Reconciliation [Uri-el, Day 1]

[Uri-el]

The angel speaks slowly in Coptic, looking just a little off-center from camera so that his burning eyes do not cause a god-awful lens flare.

"Where is the priest?" He looks off to the side. "Hmm? Oh! A different sort of Confessional." He switches to effortless Arabic. "I thought it was a little odd that it came with the house. This has all the markings of a secular institution, which seems to me to be well and to the good. What am I meant to be doing? Oh...whining. Yes. Well, perhaps we can indulge in some introspection without going to extremes."

He turns back to the camera. "I will do what I can to be frank and sincere with you. Today was a day of learning. I was able to meet several very interesting people. Most of them were polite and presented well in public; some were even inclined to be helpful and kind. That fits a certain mode of heroism. I think that I shall learn a great deal from the other competitors, and I hope that I will be able to help them in turn."

He looked like he was finished and began to rise, but sat back down.

"More? Very well. There is an element of danger here. Or rather, two elements. One is the danger inherent in hero-work. This is familiar to me. The other is the danger inherent in you, dear viewer, and in the editor who sits between us. This is more familiar to Galatea and Lil Disaster than to me. Already, they have taught me a great deal, and I believe that by observing them, we shall come, all of us, to learn a great deal more--you about yourselves, and me about how or how not to appear to you, over the coming months. That will do for a preliminary, I believe. There are others you should hear from as well." He smiled, and turned his head to look into the camera, letting his eyes have the final word, before he rose and ended the session.
