Acquisitions (Day 5 EE)

[Galatea]

''I would not assume it's advancement for now. What did you chat about? And why did you go inside?''

[Babble]

"I don't think it has conversed with many people." he shrugged. "It wanted to know if I was a danger and why I had been deceptive. It killed a woman it believed was my accomplice, then revealed that it had staged the footage. It was an odd conversation."

"It did confirm that it was aware of there being multiple Frankies and they're nature." he added. "It also said their assessment was that there could be a multiversal collapse and was interested in discussing it. Ultimately, it seemed satisfied that I was being cautious not hostile, and it invited me in to speak openly with it. Unfortunately, it already suspected I was either Markus or myself. I felt it best to confirm I wasn't Markus."

[Galatea]

Galatea was pensive

"Can you describe the woman killed? How did the subject came to be about Frankie?"

[Babble]

He described Arachnea and how the cyborg killed her.

"It kept asking me what I wanted, so I finally said I wanted to now who Frankie is. It responded by asking which one I was referring to. It did give me an answer." He quoyed. "Frankie is a potential solution to an unsolvable equation. If we can understand her makeup we can isolate her reality in the sea of the multiverse. Divison by Zero, undefined."

[Galatea]

She sighed

"That explains a few things..." she paused then, after a moment of reflections, would call the waitress for a croissant.

"Allright so. I told you about the meeting my contact had with Gibson where they set up todays rendez-vous? My contact is called Arachnea, the woman you saw...and when she entered the VR chat Frankie was already there talking to the guy then just teleported away. She guessed he knew where...and that might just be where you just were."

[Babble]

He nodded. "That's what I thought and why I used Frankie. Specifically, I tied my interest to the attack on other Frankie at the Waterfront. Explaining that the incident, and the potential for more like it, was why I didn't approach them directly."

[Galatea]

Galatea seemed genuinely surprised by what Babble just said

''The attack at the waterfront was against our Frankie?'' her face contorted in a myriad of ways ''Can you recall any details? What happened?''

[Babble]

"We were all just there on our own, enjoying a night out and mingling with locals and tourists." He explained. "Iris, Miles, one of the Frankies and myself." He explained. "Iris grabbed Frankie and tried to pull her into the Boba shop, so she might have seen something was coming. Tha empty hardsuit suddenly appeared out of nowhere and demanded the girl in French. It tried to blind us. Miles managed to damage it. It activated a self-destruct, which I tried to delay. But, it exploded."

''Oh...mygod'' Galatea was baffled

''The hardsuit did not appear out of nowhere. It was teleported...by Infinite Horizons. The DCP had been researching alternate realities for years and was the specific focus of the Kagumbo regime. Infinite Horizons is continuing the work and most certainly have ties to Mokele Mbembe.''

She frowned and munched on a bit of croissant

''Why did they target Frankie? We could assume that they knew one of them was from an alternate reality because they caused that to happen or had a way to sense dimensional travel?''

She was not sure

[Babble]

"It was under the control of Nuani Kagumbo. I saw her when I tried to take control of the hardsuit. So did Iris." He added. "The police confirmed her identity for us."

[Galatea]

''Well that makes sense. They demonstrated to the woman you saw their ability to teleport people up to five miles....and that might not be the the only thing they can do. It seems we have our focal point...we also need to make sure they don't get their hands on any Frankie. Although that might be too late.''

Galatea seemed exhausted

''Frankie is the type to just waltz in the wolfs den...''

[Babble]

"There are a lot of things in play." He nodded. "And, the Frankies are in the middle of it all."

[Galatea]

"That's a problem in itself...and there is an angle we are missing. Perhaps more so."

[Babble]

"Well, there's also a boat out there, protected by armed aircraft." he said.

[Galatea]

There was a nod of understanding ''I see...we'll need to assume they can teleport between the boat and the campus, vice versa.''

[Babble]

"That seems very likely." He nodded. "And, they are well armed."

[Galatea]

''Supertech can be a bitch to account for.''

[Babble]

"But, it could be fun to get our hands on." He countered.

[Galatea]

''Yes...but who's we?''

[Babble]

"I don't know." He shrugged. "I feel like I don't know half of what's going on. Which may be a good thing. I'm always interested in new tech, though."

"I'm sorry I couldn't get you more information." He apologized. "That AI set a really good trap."
