[Galatea]

First shift of the semester, under the cameras. Golden locks of hair flowing over the shoulders of her french low-cut blush pink summer dress, Galatea diligently grounding the Ethiopian roast for the morning brews.

She did not need the money but working here was a good opportunity or other things

In the back, the angel, dressed conservatively in business casual (the uniform of the well-to-do. Here was a young man who had never worn denim in his life), had been the subject of some discussion before he had been able to convince them that the downsides of his fire far outweighed the possible benefits.

He emerged, aproned and wearing their absurd little visor, looking rather ill at ease.

[Thousand Miles]

A little goggle-eyed at the celebrity and the celestial working the coffee counter, Miles approached the two of them. "Ummm, a dirty sugar-free chai latte with almond milk, please," he managed, trying not to stare.

[Uri-el]

Malik nodded. "Understood. Coffee is traditionally without sugar. It is well to respect the natural flavors, and...oh, I am required to say that it is coming right up. I almost forgot this." He smiled uneasily. "What name shall I put down?"

[Galatea]

Galatea rose an eyebrow at the interaction between the two men as she prepared the espresso shot for the tea, mostly at Feathers. She did not think pointing out that absence of sugar not help the natural flavors of the coffee that much since it'll be in a spiced indian tea with almond milk would have served much purpose.

''And done''

She slid the cup over the counter to Miles

''Enjoy!'' she said with a smile

"What name shall I put down?"

"They call me Thousand Miles," the teen replied. "I'm trying to keep my weight down, so that's why I'm skipping the sugar. Gotta have the caffeine, though."

The teen's eyes fairly bulged as the golden supermodel smiled at him. "A-aren't you Galatea?" he managed to say. "Uh... could I get a selfie with you?"

Chadwick was pretty sure that the people were starting tomorrow, but here they were. Well as Assistant Manager he would need to take command. He came out from the back and said first in Amharic, “Hey, new blood, you can’t just make a drink!”

“We craft miracles.”

He added in accented English, “As Assistant Manager, I’m in charge. So fall in!” The young man didn't look much older than maybe eighteen or nineteen. There wasn’t a uniform, but he did have hip clothes and a badge that read ‘Junior Assistant Manager in Training’.

[Galatea]

The teen's eyes fairly bulged as the golden supermodel smiled at him. "A-aren't you Galatea?" he managed to say. "Uh... could I get a selfie with you?"

Galatea eyed shop real quick to gage the attendance

''I am and you can.'' She turned around the corner of the counter ''But make it quick, I people are coming in and we can't have them wait, can't we?''

"You got it," Miles promised, pulling out his phone and turning to lean on the counter in order to get both Galatea and himself into the phone frame. Miles extended his phone arm before flashing a big grin as the phone emits a >click!< sound.

"A thousand thanks," Miles said, turning back to Galatea and scooping up his drink. Noticing the Assistant Manager come out, he stage whispered, "Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to get you in trouble with your boss. I heard that students could work here, but I ... I had no idea that someone famous would want to."

Malik generally did not have a problem with authority, but Chadwick seemed hard-wired to annoy.

Not noticing a designated parade area in which to "fall in," he privately decided that the Assistant Manager in Training meant that he should be attentive. Well, that was easy enough. He ceased interacting with the customer (although Miles may well have forgotten the Angel was there now that Galatea had made herself manifest), he made eye-contact, he refrained from smirking or otherwise suggesting that he was at ease.

He turned to his subordinate, "See how I greet the customer, keep eye contact. There will be a quiz later." He turned back to the Angel and waited for the order.

"Is this...are we...role playing? I am the customer?" Malik frowned. "I will have a..." he looked up at the menu. Oh...these are all teas? What is going on, here? We are close to Mokha! "...the "winter double-barrelled flavor explosion is the mint one, yes? That is what I would like."

Although would a coffee be so hard?

“Great, coming right up sir,” Chadwick said and then got set to make the drink, “Now which size, we have Large, Venti, and Grande; always ask which size. Got it?”

He starts preparing the drink, “Any questions? I know this might be advanced for some of you, but if you work hard you can be the Employee of the Month, just like me. I am pretty much the best barista this side of town.”

[Uri-el]

If this was normalcy, Malik was starting to understand why so many sought to escape it.

"I believe that I understand," he ventured.

Chadwick sighed heavily and then said, “Alright, let’s get back to it. We are going to get the morning rush any time now, any of you got any art skills? Someone needs to draw a croissant on the chalkboard outside. I need one of you to clear the trash cans, and Gold Girl, just uh… stand by the register and look pretty…”

“Hot.”

“Ahem,” and then he coughed nervously and said, “Hi.”

Malik blinked at the HR disaster in the making and made a beeline for the trash.

"Garbage. Understood." He was outta there.

[Galatea]

"A thousand thanks," Miles said, turning back to Galatea and scooping up his drink. Noticing the Assistant Manager come out, he stage whispered, "Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to get you in trouble with your boss. I heard that students could work here, but I ... I had no idea that someone famous would want to."

Galatea gave Miles light chuckle ''Don't worry about it.'' She moved back behind the counter. ''I don't need the work but it's nice to be active and meet people...also it gives extra motivation for getting up early.''

Galatea gave Chadwick an ice cold stare behind a wonderfully pleasant smile.

''Hello Junior Assistant Manager in Training Chadwick, I look forward to a respectful and professional relationship under you tutelage...I hope everything will go without problems. This is mutual, I presume?''

She was ever so pleasant but there were limits

He smiled blankly and said, "Yes."

He gulped and said, "So, umm, any questions? Any of you got boyfriends, family?"

Oh, this would be a pain

She turned to Miles, seeing that Feathers was out for the moment. He had made his round to the front already anyway, he deserved a rest.

"You got any boyfriend Thousand? Familly?" The corners of her lips curled upward slightly

"I had a girlfriend...but it didn't work out," Miles admitted ruefully. "She was, let's say, pretty opinionated. But I miss her sometimes."
