[Day 8 - LE] The Fallen Sun

[Dapper Dog]

Just a chill night in the city. A totally normal night. Like the calm before the proverbial storm.

Bea was walking home from a late shift at the animal shelter and had decided to head through the North Habt District.

She had in mind to casually walk past the address that a dear dog that she had been particularly fond of had been placed three days earlier. No harm in a little glance to make sure that the description of the private home with fenced yard had been given in good faith. Patches would surely be inside. But maybe he'd be looking out a window and glad to see a familiar face!

He was a sweet-natured mutt with some Abyssinian Sand Terrier mixed background, who had been rescued from a dog fighting operation, and still had the scars to prove it. He deserved all the good things.

It was hard to resist a bit of mind reading to make sure the adopters were on the level. But she couldn't. It was unreasonably intrusive. People had a right to their thoughts even if she really really really wanted to be sure the animals were going to genuinely good homes.

But a visual inspection of the exterior was perfectly legal.

But maybe something would happen before she even got there!

Today had been a lot. A lot more then she'd expected to have happened when she came here a few months ago. Subtle work, information gathering, networking...sure. She supposed she got that.

Dimensional fractures? Reality collapse? Now that was the spice she did not expect to taste in this dish.

Galatea was walking freely around, without the need for a cameraman...at long last. She wore a pearl white short summer dress with an open back and laced silver high heel shoes.

Meanwhile, someone else was just wandering nearby as well. Just walking on sunshine and all that, except for the fact the sun had fallen and couldn't get up. In the unlikely event that Bea could hear her thoughts; they were rather loud; it'd be hard to get them out of her head afterwards.

Scooby-dooby doo, where are you, we've got some work to do now.

But did she though? Did she have work to do? Not really. But still...

Thousand Miles still couldn't shake the feeling that Chang Associates was up to something shady, so the evening found him in the nearby shopping district buying tourist tchotchkes to cover for the fact that he kept glancing up at the Chang Associates offices with his Thousand Mile Vision to see if he could catch them doing anything suspicious.

Miles glanced ruefully into his shopping bag which contained a rubber duck with Tsehay Moqe's head and costume, a genuine imitation synthetic Ethiopian scarf, and a "I ❤ Mudaba Adin" T-shirt. Well, maybe he could figure out how to use them in his next TikTok video somehow.

[Bee Haw]

Bea made it to the address in question and stood on a sidewalk staring at a two-story house. And there was a yard! Neatly fenced. Some dog supplies, recently purchased. On the unnecessary and lavish side. Good. Good.

She drew closer, in bee form, so as not to disturb the homeowners. Just flitting at each window, staring through cracks in the curtains, watching all the rooms she could. She could see in the dark, which helped.

There he was! Patches!

A bit of empathic communication drew him over to a window with a bee.

His thoughts were happy. Comfortable. Lots of food! Rest! Toys! Happy barking!

She communicated happiness for him. That he was loved.

Delighted, she formed back into a person at some distance down the road, in an out of the way alley.

Mission accomplished!

And at this point, she could most definitely bump into a fellow student.

[Galatea]

Galatea took a seat at a posh restaurant's terrace for a drink. She did not have a reservation and they were full but they made a little miracle for her and brought a small table and chair from the back to seat her. The waiter was red in the face and tried a few glances at her legs...thankfully he did not overdo it

She'll leave a decent tip for the accommodation, however.

[Tsehay Moqe]

This was not the day Tsehay Moqe had envisioned.

But life had decided that today would be an exceptionally different day. But all of that was just a minor distraction from the pain she felt in her chest, incredible pain as she smashed through a building as a blinding ball of light and plasma, the damage was incalculable but for now she only focused on keeping her shield up.

Then she hit the ground with an incredible amount of force, it nearly left her senseless, but she fought to stay conscious. She was the shield of Mudaba Adin, she was the guiding sun.

From the outside a blinding light flew through several buildings into the ground with enough force to knock vehicles and people over with explosive force.

OOC: Please make Dodge check at DC 20 or suffer a Toughness check of 25 from the explosive impact, if they make the Dodge check the Toughness DC is 20. Please roll initiative, and if one has Danger Sense please make the DC 10 Perception check or be Surprised for the first round.

Players will need to survive for six rounds before help arrives.

Come on Scooby Doo, I see you

Woaw! Suddenly it seemed like a nuke was going off! It'd certainly be a first for Frankie. Except for that one time. But that aside! It was time to dodge! How did one dodge an explosion? By putting on sunglasses and walking away. Or in her case, running and jumping and shit.

It proved insufficient.

Miles was looking upwards when he saw the brilliant fireball falling from the sky. Instinctively, he teleported to take cover behind a wall, but the flash of light left him momentarily dazed.

Bea was able to dodge - the quick instincts and reflexes of a former rodeo champ, perhaps aided by her supernatural situational awareness (danger sense).

She caught some of the blast, but she was alert. Realizing what was happening.

Lisa Singularity appeared next to Tsehay Moqe and said, “I got here as soon as I could… what-“

She had no time to finish as a woman with blue skin appeared next to the young Elite hero. She did not teleport, she was just moving so quickly through the air that she seemed to appear without warning. Then a light fast sideways knife hand strike neatly separated the head of the elite from her body and Lisa Singularity collapsed in a heap.

The head rolling away.

The woman cocked her head at the ease of the decapitation and said in practiced Amharic, “Such fragile things? Is this the best this world has to offer? Pathetic.”

To Frankie she bloomed with an aura that said she was definitely not from this reality.

OOC: Lisa Singularity arrived... and uh is no longer alive. Unknown is at Close to Tsehay Moqe and fifty feet from the player characters who are spread out.

Well that wasn't good. Who was Lisa Singularity, anyway? Frankie didn't know; but they were gone now. Also there was the whole dimensional angle again. Wasn't that supposed to not be a thing anymore? Well, it was a thing again. Apparantly.

Thankfully, she wasn't the sort to be afraid. Or surprised for that matter. I mean, sure, it was surprising that things were exploding and heads were rolling, but it was also kind of just... another tuesday, yeah?

Anyway, the explosion was still having her ears ring... and she'd rather not have her head get chopped off, so she... hid! In plain sight, because that was an advantage on her sheet and she might as well use it to not immediately die and stuff. Hopefully, this enemy wasn't the perceptive sort and didn't notice there was suddenly like, a box, or a plant right there where Frankie had been.

Galatea looked around, usure of what was happening...she saw the damage and Lisa's head rolling around.

Bea's heart was racing.

Was Tsehay Moqe struggling to control her powers? That was a terrible threat to all present. Maybe she could help, but once Lisa's head was severed, it seemed like stopping this crazy villain had to be the first priority.

She attempts mind control on the murderous stranger.

“Interesting,” she muttered at the mind control attempt. “I suppose you will have to do. I bring good tidings from the Ultrum Imperium, your world is to be annexed. This will be a boon for you and your entire species. You live in squalor, this so-called golden age is an insult to what you could be.”

She was not close to Lisa Singularity but she was a comrade and a hero, and she deserved better. Plus she was so young. That rage welled up inside Tsehay Moqe as she unleashed a powerful blast of solar energy at the otherworldly woman.

She shouted at anyone within range, “Get away! Protect yourself and aid the injured!”

The attack seems nearly on target but a casual sidestep by the blue woman avoids the attack. The energy ripping into the side of a building burning a neat hole through the support structures.

“Well, I do enjoy resistance,” she said calmly. Then she was gone in a burst of movement ripping through buildings and super structures with equal abandon literally tearing the local neighborhood and buildings apart through sheer speed and strength.



OOC: This is an area attack but as long as you don’t try and save people or buildings you are “safe” otherwise make a DC 22 Dodge check or suffer a DC 26 Toughness check, mitigated to a DC 21 check if the Dodge save is made. Consider her at about fifty to hundred feet for range.

You can gain a Hero Point if you decide to sacrifice your own safety for others, this will save more people but you will not get a Dodge check, only the DC 26 Toughness save, this is a physical and heat based damage from falling debris, her incredible speed, and her movements.
