The refuge is a pristine reserve open to staff and Elites, it is about 200 square kilometers of natural territory for camping, leisure, and survival training. There are wild animals in the Refuge but the regions closest to the Village and campus are patrolled by locals and drones to keep them away.
There is a natural hiking trail that extends for about fifty kilometers and a jogging trail that is about forty three kilometers, the length of a marathon. The jogging trail winds around the Village and campus giving a nice view of both and the refuge.
