[Galatea]

''I know...but you are not a weapon darling. Humans struggle with dark impulses too. Rising above them is one of the things humanity is about''

[Dapper Dog]

“I am technically a weapon, just a more advanced and repurposed one,” Hana admitted. “To deny my original purpose seems disingenuous.”

[Galatea]

''That might be what you were initially designed for but that's not what you have to be. You have the ability to become who you wish to be.''

She paused, a few memories on her mind

''That might be hard but the hardest paths can be the most rewarding.''

[Dapper Dog]

"I do not have any data on what I wish or should be," the android responded. "it seems alien to me, as I can change what I need to be in the moment."

[Galatea]

She mused on this for a second

''Indeed, you are still young. It is easy to forget. I suppose getting more experience is what is required at this point''

[Dapper Dog]

"What do you want to be?" the android asked.

[Galatea]

''Free'' she replied simply

[Dapper Dog]

Hana joked and said in a mocking computer voice, "Does not compute... does not... seriously are you not already free?"

[Galatea]

Galatea chuckled at the joke

''Ooooh! We got ourselves a sense of humor!'' she took a breath ''There is something hanging above my head and I do not know what exactly. Until I find out I am...restrained...because I don't want anyone else as casualties should it fall before I can deal with it.''

[Dapper Dog]

"There seems to be context that I am missing to fully understand this reasoning," was the response.

[Galatea]

''There is darling, there is. It is just a sensitive subject and I've grown to be quite guarded on it.''

She pauses

''But if yo want to know I can tell you the big lines''

[Dapper Dog]

“My observation of human relationships has shown that such conversations tend to deepen bonds between yourselves. I am not human, but if you feel it would be helpful I can listen, it seems a great responsibility to listen,” Hana said.

[Galatea]

''Mayhaps. Mayhaps you are more human then you know. Mayhaps that'll give you a better notion of who I am and my limitations''

It was not lost on her that, after all those years, she would confide to someone she met...literally yesterday. Perhaps she actually yearned to say it, for someone to know. As she told Janus the day prior, she needed allies, friends.

And Hana reminded her of herself

''My mother was a good woman, a woman of science if not a woman of means. She did her best to raise me but when it became clear that I was an Elite, she did not have the tools on hand to properly guide me and foster my growth. She opted to ask my estranged biological father to help me and he agreed despite not recognizing me as his daughter. He got me an intern job at the research he worked with but soon it became clear that he was more interested in exploiting my increasing cognitive functions to get promotions and status then actually helping me.''

She paused

''Eventually he was tasked to study an anomaly of unknown origin. He couldn't crack it but I did...and this time I kept it away from him to study on my own. That is when everything turned sour. An unknown group of Elite assaulted the facilities, seemingly in search of the anomaly, and razed the thing to the ground killing mostly everyone. I escaped, of course, but I soon found that my mother had been assassinated. I linked the two events and went into hiding for years before I reemerged with a new identity.''

[Dapper Dog]

"That is a horrific tale to endure," the android said after the tale was finished.

[Galatea]

''It is not a nice one, to be sure, but many go through something that is similar. At least I managed to get out, I just don't know whoever attacked the facility is still out there looking for the anomaly or who they are''
