[D4. MA, Open] Life Comes in Threes--the 3rd Challenge

Uri-el presented himself for the challenge. He was really hoping for an aerial thing, but then challenges are challenges, pure and simple. He chose three as a number with resonance. It seemed appropriate.

It was a beautiful day, sunny and bright with a beach front and in the distance mountains and hills with forests. The city was a coastal city and the language sounded like Portuguese. It looked like it was about midday, and there were lots of people enjoying the sun, beach, and great weather in this urban beach side environment.

[Camilo Batista]

"Que lindo!" Camilo exclaimed as the simulation loaded up. "If this is what we get, I need to spend more time here. No?" He took a moment to limber up and get used to the suit.

[Frankie Reynes]

"Is this the beach episode?" Frankie asked as she wandered in, "Is it okay if I crash this challenge?"

[Dapper Dog]

ADINA appeared as beach goers watch as the water starts to recede to over a kilometer into the ocean exposing much of the ocean floor. ADINA spoke as a massive tsunami wave formed about fifty meters tall, “There is an imminent tsunami, it will be up to you to respond and save as many as are possible.”

The wave crashes into the beach and city as she said, “Good luck.”

OOC: Dodge check for DC 15, it will do physical damage of DC 23 if the roll is failed or DC 19 if the roll is passed. Flight can avoid this, but f they attempt to take someone with them then make the save as usual.

Also make a Fortitude save at DC 15 or become Incapacitated if affected by the wave.

A look of horror came over Camilo as he recognized the signs, just moments before ADINA's announcement. He yelled out in Portuguese, "Get back! Get inland!" Then he sought cover himself. He knew he could only help others if he first helped himself, managing to avoid the front of the wave.Unable to stand by and watch, Camilo abandoned the wisdom of saving himself first and reached to pull a not so lucky beach goer to safety, being winged by debris during the rescue and hampering his moment . He is pulled under momentarily, but his excellent conditioning and spartan training earlier in his life prevents him from drowning.

"Wha? Hey this wasn't in the forecast!"

There was no time to do much as the wave was already crashing into them as Adina wished them good luck. Frankie found herself having to teleport up in the air and then just hope for the best as she fell back down after the wave passed her by; conveniently finding herself getting stuck in one of those parachute thingies people use to hang off of while being dragged by a jetski that was nowhere to be seen now. It blocked her view for a moment but it did make her *land* in the water, rather than hit it at terminal speed or anything.

Then she looked around, to see what the situation was. How many people were in the water, and what not?

She can see Camilo being swept away with hundreds of people and beachgoers the buildings did not escape either as many buckle and show threat of collapse.

"Oh knackers..."

Time to... do something big! Or not! Depending on what forces beyond her control had to say about how reality was actually supposed to work, instead of whatever bullshit she could come up with in her head to save the day.


ooc: Okay, so, as per talk on discord... I would like to use my power to get out one (or two!) cruiseships or similar kind of ships for people to climb up on, which apparently only cost 10 each. I don't know if this actually works, and my power does have a quirk for GM shenanigans:

Frankie can pull items from alternate universes but doesn't have full control over it. She can decide what *kind* of object to pull into this universe, like: a weapon, a power tool, and so on. However, because of the quirk, she can't control its exact shape, appearance, or function, and a GM may intervene to provide her a completely random result instead of what she wants. Equipment from other realities may look decidedly *off-brand* compared to anything from this reality too.

A large cruise ship manifests in the simulation… was it real? Digital? A Plot hole? Don’t think too hard, just know it had a crew of hardy and diligent clowns ready to give you the best clown cruise of your life.

Uri-el was defined in many ways by flight, so fly he did, but seeing Camilo in danger, he decided to do what he was supposed to do. Sweeping down to pick up the Brazilian, he was caught in the backsurge and swamped.

Toughness: Toughness Save | 1d20+6 ⇒ 17 [I forgot the extra 2 from XP expenditure. I re-rolled with that in order to save the time lost in asking questions elsewhere (given how much I've already delayed things), and the possible results here are: 1 degree of failure (original roll), Pass with tie (if +2 added to original roll), or plain success if using reroll, linked here. It may not matter that much, because:
Fortitude: Fortitude Save | 1d20+8 ⇒ 12

I also apply a +2 somewhere for Evasion, but I think that makes most sense on the Dodge roll?

She wasn't expecting a crew. Much less a crew of clowns. But she wouldn't look a gift clown in the mouth. Or red nose. Franke would climb aboard the SS Floppy Shoes, and try and direct the crew to pick up survivors. Probably starting with Michael Bay and Mustachio.

[Camilo Batista]

Camilo felt Uri-el grab onto him but get pulled under as well. He let his abilities surge through his own body to repair the damage. Save yourself before you can save others... The concept didn't make as much sense with what he was about to do.

Pushing some healing energies into his fellow contestant to help him weather the onslaught, Camilo felt the his lungs crush under the pressure and struggled against the sensation. The murkiness of the water was closing in on him and there was no escape. He flailed around in a futile gesture before succumbing.

Camilo came to, finding himself separated and in a small dark space underwater. This was worst case scenario. He felt the panic rising as consciousness began to escape him again before his powers kicked in and pumped him back full of vitality. Thrashing about, Camilo could only imagine an endless cycle of suffocation and suffering followed by merciless, accursed resuscitation.

Healed by Camilo's heroic work, Uri-el sputtered to consciousness at the surface, then looked about to determine who was most in need. If Frankie's clown squad seemed as though they were doing what they could with their balloon-rafts to save the baselines and the immediate danger to them had passed, he meant to swim down and try to get Camilo free.

Healed by Camilo's heroic work, Uri-el sputtered to consciousness at the surface, then looked about to determine who was most in need. If Frankie's clown squad seemed as though they were doing what they could with their balloon-rafts to save the baselines and the immediate danger to them had passed, he meant to swim down and try to get Camilo free.

The clowns have engaged in rescue operations as best as they can, they seem confused as this is the Clownish Isles of Clownish States of Clownmerica, but they recognize people in need even if they are weirdoes who have decided to not down the sacred paints of the Clown Gods.

Of course a large hotel structure about seven stories tall looks in danger of collapsing and there are people trapped in that building.

"Alright, bozo, krusty, you guys got this? You got this!" She yelled at a random duo of clowns on deck, before she jumped off into the water and using her ability to pull out... a speedboat! Or something like it, anyway, and started heading toward the hotel. She wasn't sure what she could do for the people trapped in there, but hopefully she could figure something out.


ooc: jet-ski costs 8 equipment points. afaik, there's no reason why she shouldn't be able to have more than one piece of equipment out at the same time so long as it's within her total limits? Otherwise she'd keep the cruise ship and just try to swim toward the hotel while leaving the clowns to save the people in the water.
