[Day 4 - LA] Have a Seat (Closed)

[Dapper Dog]

The room is clean and white and looks like a spartan dorm room enclosed in an energized glass -walled room. It is not cramp but it is suspended in a large spherical chamber with an observation deck around the circumference of the chamber.

It is brightly lit.

There are no doors out of this strange room.

[Frankie Reynes]

One moment she wasn't there, the next she was. A bit dazed and off-center from teleporting such a distance. Which was why she didn't realize there was anything weird right away. After a few moments though, she looked around, and thought to herself:

"Frankie, this looks like it might've been a trap, yeah?"

Which she also inadvertently said out loud, before she banged against the glass and shouted.

"Hello? Gibson?"

[Dapper Dog]

“Please don’t hit the glass,” a young woman’s voice said from a hidden speaker, it’s a very American English. “First, I want to apologize for the minor deception. So check it, I want to help and more importantly I believe you.”

“There is a desk, there is a release form to keep everything above board. Sign that and then we need some blood samples to better understand the situation and your physiology. As a precaution we have amplified a dampening signal that should interfere with your ability to translocate.”

[Frankie Reynes]

"Bruv, you can't be serious," she said, "You're having a laugh. I didn't come here just to fall into a trap!" she blinked, "I mean, I did fall into a trap, but now that I did I'm not falling for it again! I bet that form is just more deception, yeah?"

Even though the voice said something about something something interfering with her something, Frankie still tried to teleport out of there; into an adjacent room. It probably didn't work, but she had to try.

“Please you need to listen,” the voice replied but Frankie teleported anyway and appeared in a new location in the room.

“Look, I get it, it sucks but if you work with me, I promise you will leave here unharmed and have a new ally in saving the universe. Unlike the UNJE, I am willing to commit any and all resources I have to keep us alive.”

A hologram appeared in the room of a young woman and she said, “You don’t need to trust me, Frankie. But I think we can work together.”

[Frankie Reynes]

Well this did indeed suck. So she couldn't teleport out of this room? Damn. Then the hologram appeared and she stared at her.

"Yeah? And who are you then? Where's Eric Gibson? Why... *this*? If you guys are serious yeah? You wouldn't lie and then do mad scientist stuff on me yeah? I mean, I knew you were going to because that's just mad science 101 init? But still, not cool, bruv."

[Dapper Dog]

“Ayesha,” she said. “Look I get it, gurl, it’s fucked up to use trickery, but this situation is complicated. Oh Eric, probably in his lab, look I may not always agree with his methods, we needed your expertise and I’m a big believer in asking for forgiveness after the fact.”

“I hate to be all tech bro, but we got to disrupt shit from time to time. So, I am prepared to offer you a deal, the Brass Orchid are putting a hit on you, I guess you did something to piss them off? As a cost of doing business, I can pay that fee and even refund your costs with Eric as a gesture of good will.”

“Oh, and get you back to your home universe,” she said.

[Frankie Reynes]

"The who?" She'd completely forgotten about the triad, and shook her head after a second, "Look, none of that matters yeah? The universes are about to explode! That's what's important! Whatever it is you guys are doing is probably what's causing it!"

She walked up to the glass wall, and tried poking it.

[Dapper Dog]

“Maybe you don’t care, but if you keep pissing them off you won’t live to see the end anyway,” she said while Frankie poked the wall.

“I have to do business here, and I don’t need them causing me problems. Let me help you, gurl. Look I have a solution that should help, the problem is breaches in the permeability of reality, right?”

[Frankie Reynes]

"...yeah? But why should I trust you yeah?" She looked around the room for a bit, then tried pulling out a random object from another universe; anything small enough to fit in the palm of her hand and maybe go unseen... just to see if it would work.

[Dapper Dog]

It appeared for the briefest of seconds and then disintegrated in her hands back to nothing. She said, “Because we both want to save our realities.”

[Frankie Reynes]

She then started looking for anything in the room she was in that could conceivably be used as an improvised weapon, while continuing to talk.

"Or maybe you don't even believe me at all, and you're just trying to do freaky science experiments on me so you can steal my powers and make lots of money off it yeah?"

[Dapper Dog]

There are lots of items one could use as improvised weapons that one would find in a spartan room, small containers, a pen, pillows… the like. Ayesha said, “Gurl, your powers are amazing but we mainly want to understand how you punched through into this reality and then use that to seal the breaches.”

“I am not sure what freaky experiments you are hoping for, but this is a business transaction pure and simple, it just happens we also save our realities.”

[Frankie Reynes]

"Or *make* breaches, yeah? Why even make it a 'business' transaction if you care about saving reality? This should just be like, 'yeah of course we'll do the right thing and save the universe', yeah?"

"How about this yeah? You let me out of this room, and we go back to like, the oonje... no wait, the UN JAY... or whatever they're called. Yeah? We all talk face to face and figure this out together, yeah? None of this, turning Frankie into a bubble girl business, yeah?"

[Dapper Dog]

"I have my reasons, ever heard of a Project Oz?" she asked.

[Frankie Reynes]

"Not from this universe, remember? No, I've never heard of it bruv. This some top secret thing like all governments and stuff have, yeah? With all the tragic backstories that come with it? But bruv, whatever beef you have with like *anyone*, don't see it outweighing *this*, yeah?"

[Dapper Dog]

“You have been here for several months and have knowledge about people and things well outside your realm of knowledge. I didn't want to assume,” she said.

“Project Oz was a UNJE initiative to study multiverse theory, a project that Eric Gibson was one of the lead scientists on.”

[Frankie Reynes]

"...Huh?"

It was not exactly what she'd been expecting to hear. And it seemed to be at odds with what she knew. Or thought she knew.

"But wait, he was doing that stuff for something called the DCP, not the UN, yeah?"

[Dapper Dog]

“Yes he worked for the DCP but when the regime was dismantled, the UNJE offered to expunge his prior crimes if he came to work for their R&D on this project. They were impressed with the work the DCP had done in a variety of disciplines; AI research, mechanical automation, energy… space technology to name a few. At some point the program was considered too dangerous to continue and he was cut loose,” she said.

“He was one of many such DCP scientists and specialists given such deals.”

[Frankie Reynes]

"Okaaay... so what you're saying there's some shenanigans going on with the official story? I can buy that, but that doesn't mean he's like a straight-up guy yeah? I mean, I've heard he's done some pretty bad things, yeah? Before *and* after all that."
