Bea spent the early afternoon visiting with animals at the shelter.

She had the idea to chat with the animals up for adoption and see if they wanted to do some selfie-style interviews where she could translate their side of the conversation. Whatever they wanted to share. And then put the little interviews on social media.

A fiesty cat volunteered to go first. He had a scar from life on the streets. "Tell them I used to look down on housed cats. But I am tired. The sanctuary has shown me that I can be in a place that is safe, with steady food, and ... the pets. I like the pets. I can be gentle. If you have food. I would want to be the senior cat in the house. Or the only cat."

She asked him if he had a name he wanted to be known by, or happy to take the name a food-provider offered.

"I can learn a name and respond to it. I am smart! Wily. I did not live this long and not be smart enough to learn a few of your speaking words. But my name is ..." She paused. "It's images in his mind. A feeling. I think that might translate to something like 'Fleet-of-paw.'"
